About

What is it about “About Me” sections that are so hard to write? Perhaps it’s the nature of them. They seem so self-centered and full of “I” statements.

Here’s the basics. My real name is not Janyaa, but it’s what I go by on the internet. I’m 30-something, married, and child-free. I like reading, traveling, hiking, drinking, gaming, talking, writing, eating good food, etc. I’ve been working on adding “working out” and “running” to that list. For the most part, I’m a genuinely happy person who loves interacting with all types of individuals.

Most people would probably say I’m a kind and good person. I have a tendency to over philosophize. I nearly always have an opinion on something and have a natural interest in politics and current world events. While I don’t subscribe to a particular religion, I do have faith that there’s something “more” than us. Let’s call me a self-identified agnostic.

My vices include driving too fast and drinking too much whiskey (though not at the same time.) I can also be flaky, inconsistent, lazy, and disorganized. My sense of direction is practically non-existent! (No, truly! I’ve gotten lost two exits from my house before, and I’d been living there for over two years.)

Throughout my life, I’ve always felt like I was collecting moments that I could package up and turn into stories. It’s not unusual for me to launch into a funny anecdote when I’m with my friends. Experiences are little parcels I can hand out as gifts. I love a good tale, whether I’m the one telling it or hearing a fascinating one from someone else. Life is a steady stream of vignettes; here are a few of mine. If you happen upon this blog, I hope you enjoy them!

Um…there’s more, but stick around long enough and the rest will come…
